Once the children move into Key Stage 1, we are building on their learning from Mercury (EYFS) and moving into an approach which has distinct subject teaching. 

As a school, we are using a two year cycle of planning. The topics will be covered within the two years that the children are in Mars class to ensure they have full coverage of the national curriculum. The lessons are designed so that the children remember more and can do more. 

Each lesson will teach substantive knowledge and disciplinary knowledge. For more information on these knowledge types please refer to our curriculum page.
