Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

 

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities as defined in the Code of Practice 2014 states ‘A child has SEND where their learning difficulty or disability calls for special educational provision, that is provision different from or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age.

 

There are four main areas;

  • Communication and interaction
  • Cognition and learning
  • Social, mental and emotional health
  • Sensory and/or physical development.

 

 

Central Bedfordshire SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information and Advice Service and Support)

 

Central Bedfordshire Special Educational Needs and disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) is a statutory service, provided by but working at arm’s length from the Local Authority which offers a free, confidential support service for young people with SEND and their parents and carers.
